Seeking an endorsement as a legislative candidate?

Thank you for your interest in an endorsement from DelawareCAN Action Fund. At DECANAF we are committed to ensuring that every Delaware student has access to a high quality public education and we need strong leaders to make that a reality. By engaging in this process you have taken the first step in demonstrating your commitment to this cause and your potential as a leader in education.

Below is the 2022 DelawareCAN Action Fund Candidate Questionnaire. These questions were created in an effort to understand the values of your campaign and how you align with DECANAF on our key priorities. Completing this survey is a requirement to be considered for an endorsement. Answers may be published on the DECANAF website.

3. What do you think the State of Delaware does well in regards to education and why?

4. What do you think are the main issues or obstacles in the Delaware educational system and what will you do as a legislator to address them?

6. Do you believe the State of Delaware should allow families to choose the public school best suited for their child, including traditional and charter schools?

7. Charter schools have been the birthplace of new and innovative education methods across the country. What can we do to encourage the adoption of these methods at other schools and encourage further innovation and collaboration between districts and charters?

8. What role do you think the State of Delaware has in ensuring financial and academic transparency in public education?

9. What steps do you think the State of Delaware should take to help teachers improve skills and be better equipped, as well increasing the quantity of teachers? Additionally, do you feel the PECC report recommendations are sufficient in increasing teacher compensation?

10. Delaware has one of the oldest education funding formulas in the nation. Do you support ending the current funding model and supporting the student based funding solutions proposed by the independent report done by American Institutes for Research?
