The election on November 8 is less than three weeks away and there are some very important decisions to make. State and national level data show that our students suffered significant learning loss over the last two years, and it is imperative that we address the issue with urgency, but also intentional solutions.

Going into Election Day, we find ourselves at a precipice. Do we elect candidates that continue to hold on to failed policies and poor outcomes? Or do we make a statement by electing leaders that are committed to bold solutions that will help get students on the right track. At DelawareCAN Action Fund, we choose bold leaders. The candidates below embody true innovation and a commitment to forward progress. Our students can’t afford more of the same. It’s time that we come together to discuss the challenges we face and find the solutions that will work for our students. Our slate of 2022 endorsed candidates are committed to doing exactly that. They have our full support, and we encourage you to elect them on November 8. Our kids can’t wait.

Nnamdi Chukwuocha Delaware State House of Representatives, District 1 For over a decade, Representative Chukwuocha has been a leader on issues around equity in the City of Wilmington. Since he has taken that expertise to Legislative Hall, his impact has only increased. Our kids need a champion like him. Stephanie Bolden Delaware State House of Representatives, District 2 Stephanie is a tireless community leader. Her work with the Girl Scouts is a testament to her commitment to Delaware's children. We feel good knowing she's in Dover continuing to fight for our students and everyone in our community.
Deb Heffernan Delaware State House of Representatives, District 6 Deb is a veteran legislator who has proven she knows how to get things done for her district and for Delaware. As former President of the School Board, we know she's making decisions based on what's best for our kids. Kevin Hensley Delaware State House of Representatives, District 9 From his early years as a Legislative Aide and founding member of MOT Charter, Kevin has been committed to serving his district and Delaware's students. We need his voice and leadership to create real solutions for our state.
Pete Schwartzkopf Delaware State House of Representatives District 14 You can't find a more hard-working or involved legislator than Pete. His commitment to multiple nonprofit organizations and background in public safety only go to show his commitment to his district and to Delaware. We need his experience at Legislative Hall. Val Longhurst Delaware State House of Representatives District 15 From championing legislation to increase student access to mental health services to increasing funding for K-3 special education services, Val never stops fighting for education. Our kids need a fighter like her representing them in Dover.
Mike Ramone Delaware State House of Representatives District 21 As a sitting member of the House Education Committee, General Assembly's Kids' Caucus, and the Delaware PTA, Mike goes above and beyond for Delaware's students. With his level of commitment, we have to keep him moving things forward in the Capitol. John Marino Delaware State House of Representatives District 27 After a lifetime in public service as an NYPD officer, John continues to serve as a community volunteer for children's hospitals and Attack Addiction. We know that he will be the strong advocate we need in Dover.
Russ Huxtable Delaware State Senate District 6 Russ is a born leader. The things he's done to improve housing options in Sussex County are amazing. With his focus on equitable outcomes, he's the person we need leading the way on education. Kids need someone with his dedication. Dave Sokola Delaware State Senate District 8 As a former teacher and Chair of the Senate Education Committee, Dave has first-hand knowledge of the challenges facing our students. His passion for facing those challenges head-on make him the leader our state deserves.
Nicole Poore Delaware State Senate District 12 By fighting for mental health resources for our students and sponsoring legislation to make our schools a safer place to learn, Nicole consistently demonstrates her commitment to Delaware's students and families. Her fearless charge to improve student outcomes is something our kids can't do without. Mark Pugh Delaware State Senate District 14 As a local business owner, lifetime member of the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company and former Town Councilperson and Mayor, Mark is no stranger to public service. He has received recognition for his work with Meals on Wheels and the Modern Maturity Center. We need his dedication and commitment to Delaware here in Dover.
Trey Paradee Delaware State Senate District 17 As Joint Finance Committee Chair, Trey increased funding for early childhood and after school education, and helped address the school bus driver shortage. His practical solutions to serious issues make him the Senator we need making decisions in Dover.
